Spitalfields Market truly does have something for everyone with three markets in one: Traders market, Saturday style market and an Arts market.
Some of the market stalls hosted a Christmas late night opening on the 4th, 11th & 18th of December and _DateNight_ went to check it out.
At first it looks like every other day at Spitalfields market with half of the stalls packing up for the day. Slowly though, as you walk around you come across the section that is open for the late night christmas even and you cant help be mesmerised by the festive cheer throughout.
With giant decorated wreaths suspended from the ceiling at every entrance, reams and reams of fairy lights across the market and everyone dressed up in Christmas jumpers or Santa hats, it doesn’t take much to get you and your date in the Christmas Spirit.
The sights, the sounds, the hustle and bustle all give the market a real enjoyable buzz. Its a perfect spot for a date if you both love the atmosphere at Christmas time and enjoy strolling through the stalls whilst having a natter.
There’s something for everyone in this market. From fine art, to kids clothes, to christmas presents and hand-made cards. As you wonder at the sights and make a few last minute purchases, there is also a large selection of food and drinks stalls so you and your date can keep yourselves fuelled up half way through your date as a pit stop from all the shopping.
If you book in advance there is even a wreath making workshop right here in the market. For a set fee you get to make and decorate your wreath to your heart’s content. This is a great date night activity and something personal to remember your evening together.
If things start to get too much and you need to unwind, the market even has a pop-up Xmas bar complete with Christmas themed cocktails and freshly brewed mulled wine. Right near to the bar is a stage where there are a number of live performances from a steel drum to a gospel choir. A perfect end to the date where you can both relax and unwind, sipping on mulled wine and enjoying the free entertainment provided by the market.
Here’s hoping that this becomes a regular event for Christmas at the Spitalfields Market. I highly recommend that you pencil this in for Christmas 2020.
